I was invited to participate today in a round table with Doug Pagitt and a few other pastors and seminary profs for a few hours to discuss his book A Christianity Worth Believing and issues surrounding it. It was profoundly thought provoking and feel like I have a few months of processing before I can really even talk about it. I won't wait that long, but I do want to think before I respond on this one. So more to come later...
Yo...i'll call you soon....I'm at T4TG in Louisville right now...

I wish I could have been there to hear and discuss. Here's a paragraph description of the book from amazon:
"Growing numbers of people have serious and thoughtful questions about Christianity. They remain committed to the church, but no longer feel attuned to its messages and have doubts about the sustainability of contemporary Christianity. This book shows these doubters how to embrace their questions, explore new ways to answer them, and ultimately deepen their faith. Addressing topics such as God, Jesus, sin, the Bible, humanity, church, and the Kingdom of God, it approaches theological questions in personal and engaging ways, showing readers new ways to think about Christianity, with new hopes, new understandings, and new outcomes. Rather than rehashing old debates and categories, it offers fresh insights, provocative possibilities, and hopeful alternatives in a lively and accessible way."
I hope he answers in the book who are these growing numbers of people. I hope he identifies exactly what messages these people are no longer attuned to, and I hope its not the "faith once for all delivered to the saints." All this new hopes, new understandings, and new outcomes...mmmm is he inventing a "new religion"?
Anyways, I certainly look forward to hearing about the talk...and reading the book.
